Extension Permissions Explained

activeTab Permission

Allows us to read the current YouTube video URL when you click the extension icon. This enables automatic URL filling for your convenience. We only access the tab when you explicitly open the extension—no background tracking.

storage Permission

Enables local storage of your preferences, favorite prompts, and extension settings on your device. All data stays on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.

cookies Permission

Allows the extension to share authentication state with the In Short web application using secure httpOnly cookies. This provides seamless single sign-on without requiring separate login in the extension. Only accesses cookies from in-short.com domain.

Data We Don't Collect

  • Browsing history or activity on other websites
  • Personal information beyond your email address (for authentication)
  • Data from websites other than YouTube and in-short.com
  • Financial or payment information
  • Location data or device information

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With your explicit consent
  • To comply with legal obligations or valid legal requests
  • To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • All data transmitted between the extension and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS
  • Authentication uses secure httpOnly cookies to prevent XSS attacks
  • We follow the principle of least privilege—requesting only necessary permissions
  • Regular security audits and updates to address potential vulnerabilities

Your Rights

  • Access your personal data and request a copy
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt-out of data collection by uninstalling the extension
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time

Children's Privacy

Our extension is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it removed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
